OAK — Leaf and Black Ring Belt
Unique piece
A wide-band belt in Italian vegetable tan leather with an undulating silhouette, dominated by a large black ring at its center. Around the ring, a sculptural leather flower takes shape: hand-modeled petals, textured leather leaves, and metal studs compose a small three-dimensional artwork. A black nappa ribbon closure completes the composition, elongating the silhouette and adding movement. The belt’s edges are marked by a continuous line of micro-punchwork, each one individually executed and finished. One-of-a-kind, by Matilde Montanari.

The Gesture behind the Art
Every Matilde Montanari creation is born from hands that know leather. No machine exists that can replicate what happens in our Bologna atelier: every cut, every hole, every brushstroke is a unique, unrepeatable gesture that transforms an ancient material into contemporary wearable art.
We exclusively use high quality Italian leather. Unlike chrome tanning, vegetable tanning uses tannins extracted from bark, leaves, and roots — a slow process that takes weeks rather than hours.
The result is leather that lives: it changes color over time, develops a unique patina, tells the story of whoever wears it. It is warm to the touch, with an unmistakable scent, aging with grace rather than deteriorating.
The brass elements and spherical studs, the ribbons, the colorful leather applications — every element is positioned and fixed by hand, one by one.
There is no assembly line: it is Matilde herself who composes each piece, deciding where to position each detail.
