Bio

Matilde Montanari has been working as a photographer since the early 2000s, shooting art, advertising and fashion.
After years in New York City, it was time for Milan.
In 2020, she turned everything upside down: she returned to art photography and her hometown Bologna.
The saturated, vibrant colours that have always characterised her photography reappear, as do the bold cuts to perspective.
The pure artist re-emerges, and the two-dimensionality of images is no longer enough for her.
She needs a new medium to express her images. She chooses an atypical, versatile and very Italian one: leather.
This marked the beginning of a revolution, born from a blend of art, fine Italian craftsmanship and precious raw materials, which together finally make her works three-dimensional.
She began to design her first collection of personal accessories and interior furnishings, which she named “In colours”.
The unique patterns that come to life from art photography have a new purpose: wearability.
Matilde Montanari designs and produces only limited editions collections of bags, body ornaments and wearable art, as well as carpets and upholstery for refined and luxurious interiors.
